Floating with Hope During the Month of October

17 Oct

Hope. (hohp) noun, verb, hoped, hop·ing. Noun – the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best:

There comes a time in everybody’s life that can take on such a drastic effect, one might not know which way to turn next. The diagnosis of breast cancer can be such a detrimental moment in a person’s life and bring their world to a halt at the sound of their fate. This is when hope plays an important role and a support system is formed to reassure the breast cancer victim that there is certainly hope.

One out of eight women will diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. It is the second leading cause of death among women and is estimated that each year over 226,870 women in the United States will be diagnosed with the disease.

Women should make a great effort to always remain healthy and knowledgeable about breast cancer. Being female and increasing in age are the most important risk factors for breast cancer. Remaining knowledgeable, women should also understand their inheritance and the certain inherited genetics can generate cancer cells. Having continual mammograms identifies breast cancer at an early state and can save your life. If you detect breast cancer at this early stage, you can treat the disease to the greatest extent and delay physical symptoms from developing.

Wrapsody has dedicated the month of October to honor the victims of breast cancer and to also educate the community on how important breast cancer awareness is. At Auburn, we are raising money all month for the East Alabama Medical Center to provide free mammograms to those who cannot afford one. We are passionate about this cause and believe that this will truly save lives. At Hoover, we are raising money for the local “Angel Squad” at Kirklin Clinic in Birmingham. The Angel Squad provides Hope, Comfort and Compassion to Breast Cancer patients and their caregivers.
